September 10, 2012

Dawn Food Products, Inc. of Jackson, Michigan is recalling 251, 25-pound buckets of Sam’s Club Chunky Cinnamon Streusel because it may contain undeclared milk and soy allergens. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to specific type of allergens may run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

Those who suffer with dairy allergies, lactose intolerance, or a lactase deficiency, aren’t able to fully digest the milk sugar (lactose) in dairy products. It’s usually not dangerous, but symptoms of lactose intolerance can be uncomfortable.

The signs and symptoms of lactose intolerance usually begin 30 minutes to two hours after eating or drinking foods that contain lactose. Common signs and symptoms include:

  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea, and sometimes, vomiting
  • Abdominal cramps
  • Bloating
  • Gas
