This “blues buster” recipe is a sure-fire way to help beat the blues whenever you feel a bit run down. Our recipe for a healthy mood uses a blend of known nutrients which help to stave off sadness, such as vitamins B and D and Omegas. Vitamin D is the hormone of sunlight and helps increase serotonin (no wonder we’re all happier in the sunshine!) and B vitamins have profound effects on the brain. In fact, Vitamin B deficiencies are linked to depression, so boost your intake by eating more fish, eggs, legumes, bananas and avocados.
So to help, follow this easy recipe below which gets nutrients from the fresh fruit and Cod Liver Oil supplement. Enjoy!
- 12 oz yogurt (greek yogurt preferred)
- 1 small ripe banana
- 1 Tbsp unsweetened 4 – 6 frozen strawberries
- 1 cup fresh berries
- 1 Tsp Cod liver oil
- 1 Tbsp smooth almond butter (can sub other nut butter if preferred)
- optional: 1 Tbsp honey
- Blend all ingredients
