The other day we caught word of a photo journalism effort called 4th Trimester Bodies Project that celebrates the beauty of a woman’s body after becoming a mom. This made me stop and think about the constant efforts we put into looking good – the ever annoying 10 pounds we want to lose, counting calories, cutting carbs and focusing on reaching a body we’re proud to share in a bikini. Reality is, no matter how hard I work, I will probably never have a body that I think is good enough for a bikini, so I’ve taken to working on loving my body as is. It’s not easy to do, but it’s something I’m committed to. So when I heard about this 4th Trimester project it got me thinking that I’m on the right path to loving my new body, thanks to motherhood.
My hips are wider. My belly not as flat. Boobs less perky. But I’m a mom. And there’s nothing more beautiful than that. Nothing.
So check out their Facebook page here and follow their movements across the country. It looks like they open up photo opportunities in each city they tour so follow them for a chance to be involved in an incredible movement and help moms embrace the beauty of motherhood.
You can also check out some of the pics from the book here. Now go hug your kiddo and thank them for giving you the beautiful body of a mom.
