The Lighter Side is about remembering the importance of laughter in our health (and life) journey. While I fully agree it’s important to have information on your health, and how to heal, I believe that taking a moment to smile (or better yet, laugh) is an important component to healing. Research has shown that the health benefits of laughter are far-ranging; studies so far have shown that laughter can help relieve pain, bring greater happiness, and even increase immunity. Laughter reduces the level of stress hormones like cortisol, epinephrine(adrenaline), dopamine and growth hormone. It also increases the level of health-enhancing hormones like endorphins, and neurotransmitters, and brings the focus away from anger, guilt, stress and negative emotions. In a time when your health is compromised, and you’re feeling tired, stressed, angry, frustrated and scared, laughter is incredibly important in healing the soul and making sure you stay connected with what really matters.
