Gluten. Wheat. Dairy. Soy. Corn. Nuts. Grains. Why can’t I tolerate them?
This is probably one of the more confusing and misunderstood areas of our health. In fact, many people think those of us with food allergies or sensitivities are “hokey” and it’s just some sort of made up issue. If you do any research at all, you’ll find all sorts of varying stats on how many people suffer from an allergy or sensitivity, what they should do to address it. Whether they can outgrown them. Whether they (the allergy/sensitivity) can spawn other related issues. Does it lead to other health related issues? Auto immune disorders? Hormonal and vitamin imbalances and deficiencies?
Sadly, there’s not a lot of government supported research out there to help us, and the common opinions tend to lean towards food allergies and sensitivities being a relatively small, and isolated issue. Many of you report that you have a hard time finding support and understanding from friends and family members, and often put your own health on hold because it “inconveniences” those around you.
How sad is that?
I wish I could talk to each of you and help you understand that you’re not alone. This is not made up. It’s very real, and the reality is, with an honest estimate of more than 150million of us (that’s half the US population folks) having some form of a food allergy or sensitivity, this is truly an epidemic which needs to be addressed.
GMO Hepatitis B shots administered to infants
Monsanto’s GMO corn and soybeans
Agent Orange
Many other equally terrifying manipulations of our food sources
From these above, to the very basic premise that our bodies just haven’t evolved much since our caveman days, and are not able to properly break down our foods today, the reality is most of us have some form of a food sensitivity or allergy that affects our health. We need to join together and fight for our right to have our foods labeled (http://justlabelit.org/ ), support Food Revolutions such as Jamie Oliver’s (http://foodrevolutionday.com/videos/food-education.html ) learn about living a life full of fresh fruits and veggies (http://www.forksoverknives.com/) and juice our way to better health (http://www.jointhereboot.com/index.php?lang=en ).
